Gransden Show Report

Gransden Report – CHPC Demonstration.

CHPC closed their summer calendar on Saturday 24th September at The Gransden Show. We were delighted to have been invited via the committee and in particular through Andy Ashcroft, without whose support we would not have been there.

We were given a prime midday slot in the main show ring on a beautiful and bright late summers day.

16 of our clubs finest supported the event on their ponies and made up four teams of four to display their horsemanship skills through a mounted games display.

Having all had 10 minutes to settle in to the arena whilst the poles were put into position, we were underway with the first game.

The Relay Race served as a good warm-up for all, especially the little ones who were first off each time on lead reins in front of a huge appreciative crowd.

Five other games followed which included cups, beanbags, ride and run, ball and net and finished with the egg and spoon race.

The riders ages ranged from our youngest member, Summer Williams aged 3, through to Ed Tucker and Aila Frost both aged 13.

All riders gave an excellent account of themselves and put on a display that they can be truly proud of.

In support of this was our CHPC Gazebo, taking pride of place on the ringside where we were manned all day by a rolling rota of CHPC volunteers who did sterling ambassadorial work on our behalf and we hope to have gathered up some new members as a result.

The main aim of the day however was to raise the profile of the CHPC, to demonstrate through horsemanship the huge fun and experiences to be had and to ultimately have fun. The children certainly appeared to have a wonderful day and the spirit and team ethos within CHPC is a joy to behold.

All of these aims were achieved and the children can be rightly proud of their efforts

We now look forward to our equally busy winter calendar.
