Tetrathlon News – late February 2012
There has been lots of Tetrathlon activity in the last couple of months and plenty coming up in the next few months – here is a round up of all the news.
A huge number of members have been out competing in triathlons ( Tet without the riding) , many, for the first time.
Mini-minis: Freddie and Marc de La Sayette
Mini boys: Zachary Dampier, Lucas Hemington and Benoit de la Sayette
Mini girls: Penelope Dampier and Louis Frost
Junior Girls: Nuala Hemington and Henna Knott
Senior Girls: Hattie Algar
Puckeridge Western Triathlon held at Haileybury School near Hertford. With snow still covering the playing fields, it was not possible to hold the running part of the competition, but 10 members took part, many for the first time. Hattie Algar supplied encouragement and jelly babies and won the Senior girls class. Henna showed that all her training has paid off with a Personal Best swim to give her 5th overall and Nuala 12th . Penelope was 3rd  in Minis. Zachary achieved the best shoot in his class, coming 2nd to Benoit with Lucas in 5th place. Freddie achieved 2nd best swim out of 15.
The following Sunday was the Fitzwilliam Triathlon at Oundle School. The mini boys went out and performed well again achieving 3rd team place.
What a brilliant start to the season!! Well done everyone, including the parents! In tetrathlon, we have teams of 4, with the best 3 scores counting, so it would be lovely to see more of you joining in. March is a quiet month, and then there are lots of competitions in April (see the Calendar), so there is time to get some practice in before then. Shooting Practice
This is taking place regularly on Thursdays at the moment at Hardwick.  Sally-Ann has some fun exercises including polo shoots and knock down targets. Everyone is welcome and you do not need your own gun. Contact Sally-Ann to check times.
The coached sessions at half term were well supported and more are being planned for Easter. Please contact Sue Knott and let her know if you would like to join in. Also ask Sue or Sarah about local swimming lessons. We now have some very smart CHPC swimming hats available from Sue for £3.50. I am sure they will help us all to swim even faster! Get yours now.
Riding Practice
We all need to practice the gate and slip rail to make sure our ponies understand what they need to do. We hope to have a session on Sat 24th March (tbc) and one in the holidays at Ickworth Park (tbc)  in advance of the competition there.
And finally…..
Every Easter the Pony Club run a National Tetrathlon Training Course for Seniors and we are very proud that Hattie Algar has been selected for this. They will be coached by top Olympic Pentathletes and former Pony Club members so it should be a fantastic opportunity to progress.
