Team Show Jumping

Many congratulations has to go out to the Scarlett Bedford on Midnight, Charlotte Buchan on Danny, Iona Sclater on Sparkle and Amy Lamb on Flicker who represented the branch in the 60cm show jumping at Houghton Hall on Saturday.  There were nearly 50 competitors in this class and Iona came 3rdindividually and Scarlett  came 5th individually.  The team finished in a fast times with no penalties.  Well done and keep up the hard work.

Scarlett, Iona and Charlotte went on to the 70cm class as individuals and also went outstandingly well. Both Scarlett and Iona went clear and Charlotte had 4 faults. Again this was another massive class so speed and a clear round were essential.  Iona sadly missed one of her nifty turns on Goldie but kept herself on track to do a lovely clear.

In the 80cm team event  there were mixed performances, but well done to Elizabeth Monnington and Cukoo who did a lovely clear round, Penelope Dampier on Lilly had an unlucky 4 faults, Charlotte Clover had an unlucky tumble and Nuala Hemmington had a few problems, which no doubt with a little time and patience will be rectified.

At this point I want to stress that it is the beginning of the season and you don’t know where you are at with your ponies until you get out to competitions like this and see what happens under a bit of pressure.  Well done to everyone who made the effort to turn up and represent our branch.  It was much appreciated and I know each and everyone of you tried your very best.

Rebecca Page must also get a mention for her outstanding performance on Sky Larking in the 90cm.  She came 4th having ridden the most beautiful clear round and made good time without even trying. She also competed in the 1m class and finished on 4 faults with the 2nd fastest time, which may account for the pole!!  She must also get a huge thank you for helping warm up all the younger children and she even hopped on one of the naughtier ponies of the day and still managed to take photographs of everyone!  So thank you.

Jess Bennett also had a good day on her horse riding a lovely clear round in the 90cm.

So well done to everyone and keep a look out for local competitions like this and new training coming up for the Show Jumper on the website.

Many thanks

Hetty Sclater
