Show Jumping Update April 2014

Firstly, thank you to all members who turned up for the team friendly competitions at Houghton on March 22nd and Milton on the 17th April. Both events had a really good turn out from the Branch and we were able to put teams in all classes.

At Houghton the 60cm team, consisting of Lucy Shrimpton (Goldie), Oakley Carr (Ollie), Alicia Sclater (Sparkle) and Sophie Tooley (Pip) came 2nd with no faults. So huge congratulations to them for riding so beautifully and all jumping clear. A very impressive start to the season!

The 80cm team finished on 8 faults, which sadly didn’t quite earn them a place but well done to Lexi Day (Beau), Lucy Shrimpton (Goldie), Charlotte Buchan (Danny) and Tara McCabe (Sunny Times). This was a very big and competitive class, so well done to you all.

The 1m team came 2nd with 12 faults and consisted of Tara McCabe (Itinerary), Scarlett Bedford (Midnight), Penelope Dampier (Lilly) and Lottie Sclater (Mocha). Well done to all of you as this was a tough 1m track and especially to Scarlett who came 4th individually in her first 1m class.

At Milton on the 17th April there was also a brilliant turnout and some excellent performances across all classes.

Unfortunately the 60cm team only had 3 team members which consisted of Lara Sclater (Skylo), Iona Sclater (Teal), Alicia Sclater (Sparkle). We could have done with some younger members turning up as it ended up being a bit of a family affair! Anyway, Alicia managed to show her older sisters up by doing a lovely clear round on Sparkle, while Lara and Iona took 4 faults each.

The 70cm team came 2nd with 4 faults and consisted of Zachery Dampier (Star), Alana Bailey (Silver Sprite), Lucy Shrimpton (Goldie), Ella Chamberlain (Can be Done). A special well done has to go to Ella for her lovely clear round on her new pony Can Be Done. This was a great achievement and we hope to see loads more from this combination. Alana, who is new to our pony club rode a lovely clear on Silver Sprite, definitely one to watch out for this summer!

As we had 6 members wishing to do the 70cm Lara and Iona Sclater teamed up with the Suffolk Hunt Pony Club and came 3rd. Luckily not beating the main Cambridgeshire Hunt team. Lara was very pleased to jump a lovely clear on Skylo at last!

The 80cm team which consisted of Alice Fenton (Polarity Red), Anna Czylok (Casper), Lucy Shrimpton (Goldie), Grace Nicholls (Skittles) came 5th due to a few unlucky penalties. Anna rode a lovely clear, so well done to her on her new young horse.

Iona and Charlotte teams up with the Suffolk Hunt pony club and both went clear, so well done to them.
