DC’S NOTES AUGUST 2011

Camp

Now Camp is behind us I would like to re-iterate my thanks to you all who have helped in any way to make it such a success again.

Special thanks must go to Catherine and Marc Monnington and family, Emily and Stephen Casey, Alan and Janet Banks, Pat McGill who came in especially to help us with the trophies that she organises and looks after so well for us; Wendy Ashcroft who still came to support us, despite the fact that her husband, Andrew, had been so ill in Addenbrooke’s and was only discharged home the morning of the last day of camp. All those Mums involved with the catering - you all did a great job and finally our Instructors who worked tirelessly to ensure our members had a great time. A special mention and thank-you to our indefatiguable Lindsay Cook who does such a tremendous job as Stable Manager.

Finally a big thank-you to all the hard work by those who helped to prepare the venue for camp.

Wimpole Show
Monday, 06 June 2011 21:19
Many congratulations to all those who took part in the Mounted Games Demonstration at the Cambridge County show at Wimpole yesterday. Riders and ponies coped amazingly well with all the razzmatazz of a big show and all those thousands of people! Everyone was very well -turned out and a credit to Cambridgeshire Hunt Pony Club. Well done! Congratulations to the Mums - those who sprinted incredibly fast in the lead-rein events; the slick and well-organised Arena Party - Horse of the Year Show, look out! Steve Casey for being our long suffering but enthusiastic commentator, all those who helped man our stall and dealt so welcomingly with enquiries. Especial thanks must go to Wendy and Andrew Ashcroft who were there from the crack of dawn to the bitter end, but still smiling. Finally a special thank-you to Emily Casey who has put so much hard work into getting this project off the ground. It was a great day.

Equine First Aid

A huge thank you to Ali Schwabe, ably assisted by Sam, who gave up their time to help further the knowledge of  Equine First Aid to our members at Cambridge Vet School. A most informative and enjoyable morning followed by some fun and thought-provoking quiz questions. Many thanks to the long-suffering equine guinea-pigs who submitted very patiently to all the earnest bandaging and foot poulticing during the session! Let us hope you will not have to put your new skills into practice too soon! Enjoy your Easter Holiday rallies and events - I look forward to seeing you all around. Happy and Safe Riding!
